First Monday Crime Team

Bill Ryan

William Ryan’s Captain Korolev novels and his standalone The Constant Soldier have been shortlisted for the Theakston's Crime Novel of the Year, The Irish Fiction Award, the CWA’s Steel, Historical and New Blood Daggers and the HWA’s Gold Crown. William is currently a Teaching Fellow on the Crime Writing programme at UEA.

Katherine Armstrong

Katherine Armstrong has worked in publishing for nearly thirteen years and is Editorial Director for Fiction at Bonnier Zaffre, part of Bonnier Publishing UK. She has previously worked at Faber & Faber and Little, Brown. Her speciality is crime and thriller fiction. She was one of the founding organisers of First Monday and is programme consultant for NOIReland, a new international crime fiction festival in Belfast.

Joy Kluver

Joy Kluver is a book blogger and likes to escape the ‘madness of motherhood’ by reading and writing Crime novels. She is First Monday Crime’s chief cookie maker. Joy also organises author events at her local library in South West London.

Rod Reynolds

Rod Reynolds was born in London and, after a successful career in advertising, working as a media buyer, he decided to get serious about writing. He completed City University's Crime Writing Masters degree and the rights to his debut novel, THE DARK INSIDE, were acquired by Faber even before he graduated. The sequel, BLACK NIGHT FALLING, is out now, and the third book in the Charlie Yates series, COLD DESERT SKY, will follow in 2018. Rod lives in London with his wife and two daughters. 

Joel Richardson

Joel Richardson is the Publisher for Crime/Thriller at Michael Joseph, a division of Penguin Random House. Authors he’s worked with include David Young, James Swallow, TM Logan, James Oswald and Nicci French.

Sophie Goodfellow

Sophie Goodfellow has been a book publicist for over five years, and is communications manager for FMcM Associates. She has worked with no.1 bestselling authors, debut novelists, health and lifestyle figures and literary festivals. Fond of all genres, she has a particular passion for translated and crime titles, and is a judge on the CWA Short Story Dagger. She has been described as being ‘a lot like Olivia Colman’ and ‘a Dick King Smith character trapped in reality.’

Liz Wilkins
